Hi, strangers!
We’ve been on a little blogging hiatus – completely unplanned – as Summer and life have been in full swing. I thought I would drop by with some recent pics and updates on what I’ve been up to lately!
I snuck away for a few days mid-week with my sister and dad to Niagara-on-the-Lake this month. While we were planning for a longer, bigger vacation, we made the choice to scale back our plans, due to some family and work stuff. Rather than letting it get us down, we embraced the idea of maximizing just a few short days off, and ended up having such a fantastic time! Best of all, we left all of our stresses behind and really settled into life without e-mail!
We spent the days walking vineyards, popping into shops, eating delicious meals and drinking lots of wine 😉 NOTL is always a good time! We stayed at a wonderful bed and breakfast with the BEST food. Here are some snaps from our meals:
The three of us have never been away together, and we’ve all had a very busy year to date. Even though it was just a few days, I think our little retreat served to remind us how important it is to stop and look up, breathe deep, and just shake off some of the things that consume our day-to-day lives.
In Other News…
Shortly after returning home from my mini-trip, I got engaged!!!!
We are very excited and hoping for a 2019 wedding 🙂 In keeping with the theme of staying down to earth, I am determined to be present throughout the engagement and whatever form our wedding takes. As I’ve started looking at wedding everything, I’ve realized how easy it is to get lost in all of the planning and decisions. I’m someone who is easily overwhelmed, and I’m determined not to feel overwhelmed or distracted by “the fluff” throughout this engagement – I want to feel the way I feel right now: happy, excited and most of all, grateful. ❤
Don’t get me wrong – I’m scrolling flower arrangements and dreaming of my dress day and night. But I also feel very grounded and intentional as we start planning, and I’m thankful that I’m a little bit more mature (aka old) as I reach this milestone.
So that’s what’s been keeping me away from the Internet! I’m not mad about it.

I am so glad you had a nice mini vacation, you definitely deserved that! And WOW you got engaged when you got home. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I know wedding planning can be a bit stressful, but please do not let it ruin this exciting time for you! I had to take control of planning my wedding because everyone had their ideas, but I knew what I wanted! It is funny because my sister in law and I went into a bridal shop to look at dresses and again I knew what I was looking for. I decided on the 2nd dress I tried on!!! I did have to go back with my mother and pretend it was the first time! Just do not allow anyone to sway your choices. It is YOUR wedding and you deserve EXACTLY what you want!!!!! I am here if you need any help with ideas and ways to not spend an insane amount of money!!

Oh wow, thank you so much! I can already relate to some of your stories ha! ❤ But you're right, it's important to keep things in perspective and not let the stress win! I'm determined to have a relaxed wedding 🙂 That's hilarious about the secret wedding dress shopping!!

Definitely keep the wedding planning in perspective because it is supposed to be a fun and exciting time. Make sure things go according to how YOU want not what other people want, well except your future husband gets some say in things! Everyone always says how incredibly stressful their wedding was, but honestly it flies by in the blink of an eye. All the memories you will have should be cherished and not anything but joyful!!
Do you have an idea of the style of wedding dress you want? Do you know the colors you want? Seriously once those questions are answered, everything else is a breeze. Well I mean the date is important as well,LOL!!
